The Latest Beach Plan

Take a look, you can click on the image to enlarge it so you can see more detail:

I Like the treatment of the upper deck parking.  As I have said in the past, we have been “trained” do do with about half of the parking on the upper deck due to it being unavailable with all of the pier construction equipment stored there.  It seems it will be adequate for those using the pier to fish during the hours when beach goes ain’t using all the spaces. I am concerned that having the traffic flow through the parking lot will result in congestion since people are used to “taking a drive by the beach”, but with the landscaping between the road and the beach limiting the view I think people will be weened from just driving through.  Speaking of the landscape near the beach itself, I like it. It will go a long way in making it much less harsh than it is now, and offer a much more inviting area to sit and enjoy the view without actually going down on to the beach itself, something I like to do.

I would have liked to have seen a parking structure on the south end of the lower property that would free up more open space. However the cost of the parking structure may be prohibitive.

So at first glance it looks like a great improvement to me.  I’d like to hear your thoughts, so please post any comments you may have.  There will be a workshop for the City Commission this coming Monday at 5:30 to review the plans Michael Singer Studio has developed so far.
