Decoration Day

Nowadays Memorial day is considered summer’s kickoff, a time for parties. I hope that we all take some time today to reflect on the true origin and meaning of the holiday. Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, is a day of remembrance for those who have died in our nation’s service.

If it is considered a holiday, why is it so? I consider it to be a national day of mourning. This is how we observe this day in our home. Because of what that day represents the rest of the days of the year are our holidays.” —
