A walk X 2. . .

win2Yesterday we took two very different walks, the west side of town and John Prince Park .

We stopped by Victor’s Produce for a cold drink and chatted with the family who  has owned the business for 13 years. We gotwin1 to talking about their neighbor, the burned out building at 1213 Lake Ave. They told us that it has been vacant for 5 years and suffered a fire 3 years back.  The family approached the owner about buying the building to put in a much needed neighborhood laundromat. They’ve never heard back. They also thought that Greg Rice’s building would be a good location for a laundromat.

Business owners like this contribute to the success of a neighborhood, it’s time the City contributed too by enacting a Commercial Property Maintenance Ordinance to do their share.

win9Deciding to cool off, we headed over to John Prince park. The shade of the trails and the breeze coming off the lake was welcome relief.

Along with the birds and other wildlife quite a few people were taking advantage of this oasis of green.

As we walked by the water we watched a fellow having a ball on his jetski. It looked like a really fun way to beat the heat as he zipped up and down a canal.
