On Saturday, December 12th, the City of Lake Worth is hosting its 44thAnnual “Holiday Parade” for the residents of our community to enjoy and celebrate the winter Holiday season. As part of the festivities the Lake Worth Kiwanis is coordinating a Santa’s Winter Workshop at the Downtown Cultural Plaza prior to the parade from 2:00-7:00pm. Activities will include food, arts and crafts, bounce houses, music and entertainment and highlighted by a bicycle raffle to the kids in attendance.
We are asking local merchants to contribute to the wonderful community event by donating either $100 or a brand new bicycle to be raffled off at the event. Our goal is to raffle off 50 new bicycles to the kids in attendance. The first 300 kids to attend the event will receive a free raffle ticket. This will be a great opportunity for your business to be a part of this community event.
If you have any questions or comments about this event, please contact us at 533-7363. Thank you for your time and consideration of this donation request. We look forward to hearing from you soon.
Sincerely,
Juan Ruiz
Recreation Manager, Parade Coordinator
Note: You don’t have to be a merchant to donate!

This past Tuesday the City Commissioners approved a resolution pushed by Suzanne Mulvehill that “affirms and confirms” that public rights of way will be protected for public benefit. The idea being to turn these right of ways into pocket parks, specifically those on the intracoastal.
To get an idea of what we are dealing with we decided to take a walking tour of some of these right of ways. Checking with the Palm Breach County Property Appraiser’s web site allows you to verify if the land is indeed a right of way, or privately owned.
16th Ave. N.
The map at the appraiser’s web site shows the right of way.
View from the road.
Trash on walkway.
Small Beach and view of the intracoastal.
12th Ave. S.
The map at the appraiser’s web site shows the right of way.
We walked down the right of way to the water. It is very nice, but you feel like you are trespassing in someone’s back yard.
9th Ave. S.
The map at the appraiser’s web site shows the right of way.
Aerial view.
As you can see in the aerial view the right of way is serving as the homeowner’s drive way.
6th Ave. S.
Aerial view showing fence across right of way (click to enlarge).
Right of way totally blocked by vegetation.
Access to right of way blocked by fence.
It appears that these right of ways are in varying states of “ownership” by the adjacent property owners. There is going to have to be work done to open these areas up to the public and to maintain them as well. Where does that money come from?

Lake Worth Florida– Mayoral Candidate Laurence McNamara announced today that he has secured a 14 person mobility vehicle to provide transportation from the downtown area to the beach. McNamara stated, “By dealing directly with the prior owners we were able to acquire a vehicle perfectly suited for our needs“.
Utilizing a state of the art High Output Transfer Driven Oxygen Generator (H.O.T.D.O.G.) the transporter actually returns oxygen to the atmosphere as it is driven.
The initial route for the service will be North Lakeside Drive to Old Bridge Park and the Casino.
“This is truly a win / win situation for Lake Worth“, said McNamara with obvious relish.
