At yesterday’s special City Commission meeting to swear in Scott Maxwell and Jo-Ann Golden, three events showed the continued sideshow like behavior of Lake Worth politics.

Protester Ana Rodriguez interposed herself at the podium to protest Scott Maxwell’s supposed involvement with hate groups.

Cara Jennings sniped at new Commissioner Scott Maxwell through a letter.

An elderly Lake Worth citizen hurled the F-bomb twice across a crowded City Hall lobby.

But the last laugh was had by Retha Lowe who reminded everyone that she handpicked her successor, Commissioner Scott Maxwell.

Speaking of Right of Ways. . .

A little while ago I posted about the condition of some of the City owned right of ways and the desire of some people to utilize them as pocket parks (click here to read post).  Those right of ways dead-end onto the intracoastal waterway.  There are other right of ways in the City, some of which abut the golf course.

During today’s walk we happened upon some election signs that appear to have been placed on the right of way directly north of 830 North Golfview Rd.

rw23As you can see the right of way is landscaped in a manner that prevents access.

The position of Golfview road is incorrect in this map from the Palm Beach County Appraisers website, however you can see the right of way.

rw22An aerial view shows that like some of the right of ways that end at the interacoastal, this one has also been incorporated into the homeowner’s property.

rw21

If we are going to use the right of ways on the intracoastal waterway for public access are we also going to recover them from other areas of the City, or simply let the homeowners use them as their own property?

blog_headerClick on the image above to go to the Juice Blog at the New Times.  They will be posting the candidates for Commissioner views on Undocumented workers throughout  the day.

We asked all four city commission candidates to respond to three questions about policies for undocumented workers in Lake Worth. After the jump, excerpts from District 3 candidate, current vice-mayor Jo-Ann Golden. We’ll be posting responses from other candidates later today.
